About the Char Saint-Chamond - World War I Tank:

First entering combat at Laffaux Mill on May 5, 1917, the Char Saint-Chamond was a French WWI tank fitted with a modified version of the famous Model 1897 canon de 75. The tank’s hull was stretched to accommodate the 75mm gun giving the Chamond its unique shape. In combat the Chamond battled deficiencies in navigating difficult terrain due to its longer hull but proved effective against German batteries as assault guns across flat terrains.
