The 8.8 cm FlaK 18/36/37 is an anti-aircraft gun of 8.8 cm calibre, used by the Wehrmacht since before World War II and exported to the Allies.
In German, it is called the 8.8 cm Flugabwehrkanone ("anti-aircraft gun"). The caliber of the gun led German officers to call it "Acht-Acht" (German for "8-8", more commonly written in katakana as "Acht-Acht") and Allied officers to call it "eighty-eight". From Wikipedia
