About the M113AS4 – Australian Armored Personnel Carrier:
In commemoration of ANZAC Day on April 25th, Brickmania’s new release is the Australian M113AS4. In use by the Australian Army since 1964, the M113 family of personnel carriers served in large numbers and multiple variants in Vietnam, Somalia, Rwanda, and East Timor. Functioning as transport or command vehicles, ambulances, and reconnaissance or armored infantry units, their adaptability has kept the M113s in use today. To stay up to date, the M113s underwent significant upgrades from 2007-2012.
The most prevalent upgraded variant is the M113AS4, designated specifically for troop transport and featuring an elongated hull and additional road wheels. The AS4 can carry 10 infantry soldiers alongside the crew and has an armored turret with a M2HB Quick-Change Barrel machine gun. Despite their long tenure with the Australian Army, the M113s are slated for replacement in 2025. Nevertheless, they remain effective and, in 2022, Australia gifted 28 M11AS4s to Ukraine to aid in the defense against the Russian invasion.
