Ancient Roman battering ram
A battering ram or shokaku is a siege weapon designed to break down and breach castle gates and walls. The impact of a log-shaped object is used to destroy the target by hitting it vertically. It is one of the oldest weapons, along with the catapult, and was used for a long time until the late Middle Ages, when the cannon became the dominant weapon of siege.（From Wikipedia)
