About the LAV 6.0 – Canadian Wheeled Infantry Fighting Vehicle:
Canada’s primary light armored vehicle, the LAV-6 is modern, heavily armored and armed, and fast. The LAV-6 is the fourth iteration of General Dynamics’ LAV series, a family of adaptable armored vehicles that forms the backbone of Canada’s combat fleet. After sustaining losses and damage in combat in Afghanistan, Canada began updating its LAVs in 2009, and the updated LAV-6 entered service in 2016. In 2017, the LAV-6 debuted operationally in Canadian operations in Latvia.
The upgrades gave the LAV-6 stronger protection against mines and IEDs, increased mobility, and advanced surveillance tools. With a crew of three, it can carry eight additional troops into combat, protected by a turret with a M242 Bushmaster 25mm autocannon and a 7.62mm machinegun. Its powerful diesel engine provides a top speed of over 60mph and a range of almost 400 miles, while its eight wheels provide excellent cross-country capability. The LAV-6 meets numerous needs, with variants serving as troop carriers, command posts, and engineering and reconnaissance vehicles.
